Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant has been diagnosed with a complete tear of the radial collateral ligament, an avulsion fracture, and a volar plate injury at the MCP joint of the small finger of this right hand, it was announced today. The damage occurred when Bryant dislocated the finger in the Lakers’ game at New Jersey on February 5, and was aggravated in last night’s game at Minnesota.
Bryant was examined today in Los Angeles by Dr. Steven Shin, a hand specialist with the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Group.
Dr. Shin has recommended surgery to repair the ligament, which would cause Bryant to miss approximately six weeks.

A decent showing in Miami today against the Heat. Lamar Odom came through with 15 points and 18 rebounds, I must stress that it was a very under the radar 18 rebounds that were crucial to some key Laker possessions.
There was a lot of media hype by ABC for Shawn Marion’s debut with the heat since he was traded from the Suns for Shaquille Oneal. Marion came through well, providing some much needed energy to the last place Heat. The one moment that made Laker fans roll there eyes was at the end of the 3rd quarter where Kobe was coming off a steal to dunk the ball in a fast break, and Dwayne Wayde flung his body into Kobe and both went flying to the floor, flagrant like…and ofcourse the sorry Florida fans came through in a loud cheer to see that there messiah like DWADE sacrificed his no-outside game having body to stop Kobe from a poster dunk.
