The Countdown to Jermaine Oneal Being a Laker

71796658RH_D039245006 Am I wrong or am I right? I am starting to feel the inclinations of the Lakers getting a six time all-star starting center on their roster.

Jermain Oneal gave his hint during Baron Davis and Paul Pierce’s annual L.A. Stars Charity Basketball Game at USC’s Galen Center. I bet Jermaine felt the vibe from Paul Pierce in being on a team that has a perennial NBA legend, a la Kobe/KG. The relief of not going through another disappointing and criticized season, that the sports media flourishes upon when talking about high dollar NBA players. Paul Pierce said, if the Celtics don’t make a change I will make a change and leave — and look what happened.

Pacer sources say the Lakers would have to give up their entire front line, which includes Lamar Odom, Luke Walton and Andrew Bynum, to get Jermaine Oneal. Bird has said to the media in the prior months that the Lakers refuse to include Bynum in a deal. He was quoted monday saying, “In any discussions regarding him or any of our other players, the expectations for the franchise and our fans is to receive fair market value in return if a trade is to be considered.”

I am truly a Lamar Odom fan regardless of what team he is on, and Andrew Bynum will be very hard to let go. But being given the chance to get a player that has voiced his wish to be here and play with Kobe and averages 19.4 points, 9.6 rebounds and 2.6 blocks a game; you just can’t beat that.

I purposely left Luke Walton out of that list because I honestly think Luke will be here to stay. He is too valuable to the triangle offense to let him go, also we need a solid 3.

Come mid August, there will be a deal where the Pacers will get Lamar Odom, Andrew Bynum, 2 Draft Picks, and possibly a wild card player (Jordan Farmar, Sasha Vujacic) and the Lakers will receive a much needed Jermaine Oneal.

You’re wrong about what Indy are asking. Walton is
not being asked for. It’s Odom, Bynum, and
Crittendon. Someone on the LA Times misquoted
a radio program and several people have continued
    that false rumor (including you).

And I disagree that the Lakers will give up both
Odom and Bynum. They will give up either Odom OR
Bynum or the deal won’t happen.

I said Pacer sources, who I know personally. I am not repeating a rumor I heard, I am repeating what I heard from a reliable source who is part of the Pacers organization.

Oh by the way, only way this deal will happen is if we ‘give up’ Odom and Bynum buddy. Plus if the deal doesn’t happen in mid-August, it can still happen mid-season.
